The BitPhyer™ family represents more than three decades of UNH‑IOL leadership in network conformance, interoperability, and performance testing. Building on this legacy, UNH‑IOL is developing the next generation of BitPhyer test solutions to meet the evolving demands of modern Ethernet environments, spanning legacy networks through the latest automotive and industrial standards.

The next‑generation BitPhyer is built on a flexible, FPGA‑based architecture and is transitioning to advanced Opal Kelly platforms. It is engineered for precise, bit‑level control, enabling users to generate arbitrary bit patterns and frames for deep testing of IEEE 802.3™ MAC, Flow Control, PCS, and RS layers.
Key capabilities in development include:

• Expanded Interface Support: MII, RGMII, USXGMII, SFP, and SFP
• Broad Speed Coverage: 10Mb/s through 10Gb/s today, with a roadmap extending to 800Gb/s technologies including QSFP‑DD and OSFP
• Specialized Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) Testing: Support for 10BASE‑T1S, 10BASE‑T1L, and 100BASE‑T1 for automotive and industrial applications
• Automated Compliance: Integration of UNH‑IOL Test Plans alongside customizable scripts to streamline root‑cause analysis and ensure consistent results across teams
